Working With Us

What actually happens when you get in touch

No mystery, no runaround, and no bill you weren’t expecting. Here is how we work, from your first call to the end of your matter.

The first three steps

From your first call to a plan

1

You tell us what's happened

In your own words, by phone or through the form. No legal terminology required. We will tell you within one working day whether it is something we can help with.

2

We give you a straight answer

What your options are, what each is likely to cost, and what we think you should do — including when that is nothing at all.

3

You decide, then we start

Nothing happens until you say so. You get a named solicitor, a written engagement letter and a clear scope before any work begins.

Your first appointment

What to bring, and what to expect

Your first appointment is a conversation, not a commitment. It usually lasts around an hour, and it can be in person at our Cardiff office, by video, or on the phone — whichever suits you.

Bring anything relevant that you already have. Contracts, letters, emails, notes of dates and conversations. If you have nothing in writing, that is fine too — plenty of people arrive with nothing more than an account of what happened.

What we will cover

  • What has actually happened, in your own words
  • Where you stand legally, in plain English
  • The realistic options, including the ones that do not involve us
  • What each option is likely to cost and how long it may take
  • Any deadline you need to be aware of

What we will not do

We will not pressure you into instructing us, and we will not tell you that you have a strong case when you do not. If the honest answer is that pursuing something would cost more than it recovers, that is what you will hear.

How we charge

You will always know what it costs

Fixed fees

For work with a predictable shape — wills, settlement agreement advice, contract reviews, licence applications. Quoted before we start.

No win, no fee

Available on most injury and clinical negligence claims. We explain exactly what is deducted from any compensation before you sign.

Hourly rates

For disputes and matters where the work depends on how the other side behaves. You get an estimate at the outset and an update whenever it changes.

Before you pay for anything, check whether you already have cover. Home insurance, motor policies, union membership and professional indemnity all commonly include legal expenses cover that people forget they have. We will ask, and we will tell you if you can use it.

What you can expect from us

Four things we commit to

A named solicitor

You deal with the person handling your matter, not whoever answers the phone.

A reply within one working day

To any call, email or form. If we cannot answer yet, we will tell you when we can.

Plain English

No Latin, no jargon, and no letters you have to read three times.

An honest view

Including when the honest view is that you should not proceed.

If something goes wrong

Tell us, and tell us early

Most problems are misunderstandings about scope, cost or timing, and most are fixed in a phone call. Speak to the solicitor handling your matter first — they would far rather hear about it than not.

If that does not resolve it, we have a formal complaints procedure, and you are entitled to use it. It is free, it is set out in writing, and using it does not affect how we handle your case.
