What happens next

  1. Send us the invoices, the contract or terms, and the chasing correspondence.
  2. We check enforceability and the debtor’s ability to pay before advising.
  3. We pursue the debt and enforce any judgment obtained.

Fees for this work

Fixed fee for letters before claim and undisputed claims, so recovery costs are predictable. Contested matters are charged hourly.

Common questions

How much does it cost to chase a debt?

For a straightforward undisputed debt, considerably less than most businesses assume — and statutory interest and compensation often cover a meaningful part of it. The expensive scenario is a genuinely disputed debt, which is a different exercise entirely.

Can we add interest and costs?

On commercial debts, yes. Statutory interest and a fixed compensation sum apply unless your contract provides a substantial remedy instead. Many businesses never claim either.

The debtor says they'll pay next month. Should we wait?

Sometimes, but get it in writing, because an acknowledgement of the debt also restarts the limitation period in your favour. Indefinite patience is how six year old debts become unenforceable ones.

What if they have no money?

Then judgment achieves nothing and the money spent obtaining it is lost. We check the debtor’s position before recommending proceedings — it is the most useful thing we do on a debt matter.
