Common questions
I tripped on an uneven pavement. Is the council liable?
Only if the defect was significant enough and the council failed to maintain a reasonable inspection regime. Councils have a statutory defence if they can show a proper system was in place, so these claims are harder than people expect.
I slipped in a supermarket. What do I need?
Anything showing how long the spill had been there — CCTV, witnesses, cleaning records. Notify the store immediately and ask for an incident report.
How much is my claim worth?
It depends almost entirely on the injury, its severity and how long it lasts, then on your financial losses. We can give you a realistic bracket once we have medical evidence.
I've already reported it. Is that enough?
Reporting is useful but not the same as making a claim. Time limits run from the date of the accident regardless of any report.
